The principal object of CATWAO is to provide a platform for Canadian and Turkish women to promote a better understanding and appreciation of their respective cultures, thus fostering goodwill and working towards better integration in the multicultural community.

 

This objective will be achieved through a variety of activities in the fields of art, culture, literature, women’s issues, and other complementary events.

CATWAO Season Opening Event - Family Picnic

Join us for a fun-filled day at Vincent Massey Park to kick off the CATWAO season! Bring your family and friends for a relaxing picnic in the park. Enjoy games, music, and delicious food in the great outdoors.

CATWAO (Canadian and Turkish Women’s Association of Ottawa) is excited to host a family picnic on September 8, 2024. This event is designed as a cultural gathering to celebrate our diverse community, bringing together Canadian, Turkish, and other cultures. It promises a joyful experience while supporting our bursary program for female students.

It is open to everyone, so feel free to bring your friends who are interested in connecting with the Turkish community and supporting our mission of cultural collaboration.

  • Meet Us: Meet and connect with fellow CATWAO members and their families.

  • Complimentary Beverages: Enjoy a selection of cold beverages provided by us.

  • Potluck Style: Kindly bring a dish of your choice to share with others.

  • Cutlery and Plates: We will provide cutlery, plates, napkins, and cups.

  • Seating: In the event of limited seating, please consider bringing a foldable chair or blanket.

  • Games and Activities: We’ll have outdoor games and fun activities for kids. Feel free to bring a backgammon set for some enjoyable competition.

  • Free Attendance: The event is free, but Eventbrite registration is required. A donation option is also available during registration for those who wish to support our organization.

To join, please register on Eventbrite and receive a free raffle ticket during the picnic. One ticket will be given to participants who register at the event, and the raffle ticket drawing will be held during the picnic. You can purchase additional raffle tickets on-site to boost your chances of winning. Just remember to bring some spare change!

If you register but do not attend, you will not be eligible for the raffle.

Please keep the ticket you receive by email; do not delete it. You'll need to present it on the day of the event.
